The Ethio-Djibouti Railway Transport Share Association received the symbolic \u201ckey\u201d from the Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) on 10 May 2024. During a meeting held on May 16, 2024, in Nairobi, Kenya, Presidents William Ruto of Kenya and Yoweri Museveni of Uganda signed a tripartite agreement to enhance trade and infrastructure ties between the two countries. The recent agreements between Kenya and Uganda underscore their commitment to strengthening trade and infrastructure ties, with a significant focus on railway development.<\/p>\n

President William Ruto highlighted the importance of extending the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) from Naivasha to Malaba, and further to Kampala and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In his speech, he highlighted several key points: TAZARA stands as a symbol of friendship and cooperation between China, Zambia, and Tanzania. Reviving TAZARA is crucial for enhancing trade linkages and catalysing economic growth in sectors like agriculture, mining, and manufacturing.
