{"id":466150,"date":"2026-06-29T19:26:30","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T09:26:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/railuk.com\/?p=195506"},"modified":"2026-06-29T19:26:30","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T09:26:30","slug":"railway-improvement-work-to-affect-west-yorkshire-services-for-two-weekends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=466150","title":{"rendered":"Railway improvement work to affect West Yorkshire services for two weekends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/railuk.com\/travel\/railway-improvement-work-to-affect-west-yorkshire-services-for-two-weekends\/\" title=\"Railway improvement work to affect West Yorkshire services for two weekends\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"485\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/16104205\/Track-engineer-Network-Rail-485x360.jpg\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin-bottom: 5px; clear:both;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/16104205\/Track-engineer-Network-Rail-485x360.jpg 485w, https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/16104205\/Track-engineer-Network-Rail-80x60.jpg 80w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Track renewal, tunnel repairs and groundwork engineering will affect services in West Yorkshire over the weekends of 18-19 and 25-26 July.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Passengers are advised that rail replacement buses will be in operation for some journeys because of improvement work in Menston and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New rails and sleepers will be installed along almost 1.9km of the line for smoother, more reliable journeys.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brickwork and stone repairs will be undertaken along 500 metres at Esholt Tunnel to keep the structure in sound condition and avoid future maintenance issues which could impact train performance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elsewhere on the line, there will be vegetation management and work to stabilise embankments, reducing the risk of ground movement and keeping the track safe and reliable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a result of the work, on Saturday 18 and Saturday 25 July, buses will replace trains between Ilkley and Shipley.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Sunday 19 and Sunday 26 July, LNER trains that usually start or terminate at Bradford Forster Square will instead start and terminate at Leeds. Northern will have rail replacement buses between Bradford Forster Square and Shipley\/Ilkley. In addition:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Trains between Leeds and Skipton will call additionally at Kirkstall Forge and Apperley Bridge.<\/li>\n<li>Trains between Bradford Forster Square and Skipton will be diverted to start\/terminate at Leeds and will not call at Frizinghall.<\/li>\n<li>Trains between Leeds and Bradford Forster Square will not run.<\/li>\n<li>Trains between Leeds\/Bradford Forster Square and Ilkley will not run.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Karen Duffy, Network Rail operations director, said: \u201cAcross the weekends of 18-19 and 25-26 July, we\u2019re carrying out essential track renewal, tunnel repairs and earthwork improvements to keep the railway safe and reliable for passengers.
