ScotRail has marked Armed Forces Day (Saturday 27 June) and strengthened its commitment to the armed forces community by becoming a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant.<\/p>\n

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by organisations to ensure those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly and not disadvantaged in accessing services, employment, or support.<\/p>\n

By signing the Covenant, ScotRail is recognising the valuable contribution made by serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadet force adult volunteers, and military families across Scotland.<\/p>\n

The train operator was formally presented with the Bronze Award under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme during His Majesty\u2019s Gun Salute event at Edinburgh Castle on Saturday, 13 June.<\/p>\n

Julie Dale, ScotRail HR director, said: \u201cScotRail is proud to become a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and to receive the Bronze Award under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.<\/p>\n

\u201cArmed Forces Day provides us with an opportunity to show support to those who make up the armed forces community, which makes an enormous contribution across Scotland.<\/p>\n

“We recognise the skills, experience, and values that serving personnel, veterans, reservists, and military families bring to workplaces and communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs one of Scotland\u2019s largest employers, we have an important role to play in supporting inclusive opportunities and making sure people from all backgrounds can build rewarding careers on the railway.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis commitment reflects our desire to be a forces-friendly employer, and we look forward to building on that support in the years ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same. The scheme has three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. <\/p>\n

The Bronze Award recognises employers that have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and made a formal commitment to being forces-friendly. <\/p>\n
