The Polish logistics operator Loconi Intermodal has started building a rail terminal in Zb\u0105szynek, western Poland. The investment is a response to the growing freight flows through Polish ports.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>Loconi Intermodal is building the new facility on a 9.4-hectare site. It will have a direct rail connection to the TEN-T network\u2019s E20 railway, as well as connections to major roads.<\/p>\n

The project received 76 million Polish z\u0142oty in European funding (nearly 18 million euros). It should be up and running by Q1 2028. The Loconi terminal will have four handling tracks that can simultaneously handle two full-length trains. It will also feature 4,500 TEU of storage space and two gantry cranes.<\/p>\n

Maritime and hinterland<\/h2>\n

\u201cThe investment in Zb\u0105szynek reflects both the sustained growth in maritime cargo flows through Polish ports and the increasing importance of efficient hinterland connections\u201d, commented Niels Jakobsgaard Andersen, CEO of Loconi Intermodal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis new intermodal terminal will strengthen our ability to manage rising volumes, enhance cross-border connectivity as part of PSA Group\u2019s Node to Network strategy, and support our customers in transitioning to more sustainable and reliable supply chain solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Loconi Intermodal says that the new facility will support the growth of local businesses, improve the efficiency of regional supply chains and reduce pressure on main transport corridors.<\/p>\n
