To keep passengers and staff safe, temporary speed restrictions or changes to services can be necessary. \u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"Qd6ryW4mplo\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Southeastern urges customers to only travel if absolutely necessary during record heatwave\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Qd6ryW4mplo?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This means trains may need to run more slowly in some locations, and journeys are likely to take longer, with an increased risk of delays and short-notice changes.<strong>\u202f<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If customers intend to travel, they should remember to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated and\u202fplan ahead\u202fto help ensure they\u202fremain\u202fcomfortable during their journey.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Extra\u202fwater will be available at stations\u202fand on trains\u202falongside\u202fadditional\u202fstaff to support customers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>David Davidson, Chief Operating Officer,&nbsp;South&nbsp;Eastern&nbsp;Railway&nbsp;said:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Our teams are working hard\u202fand doing everything we can\u202fto ensure we can keep people\u202fsafely\u202fmoving this week.\u202fBecause of the extreme heat,\u202fwe&nbsp;are\u202fadvising\u202fcustomers to\u202fonly travel if\u202fabsolutely necessary.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We&#8217;ve put extra support in place across the network, including\u202fadditional staff on the ground, water available at stations and on trains, and engineering teams positioned to respond quickly if conditions require it.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere might be short notice changes, with journeys taking longer than usual.
