Swedish operator Green Cargo closed a deal with Jernhusen to operate the \u00c5rsta intermodal terminal, just a few kilometres south of Stockholm. \u201cGreen Cargo will take over as terminal operator no earlier than 1 October 2026\u201d, the company said, adding that the agreement will last until 2029.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>The terminal serves as one of the main gateways for various types of goods reaching Sweden\u2019s capital, from food to consumer and retail goods. \u201cGreen Cargo’s role as terminal operator and service provider is kept organisationally separate from the company’s operations as a railway company in order to ensure transparency, equal treatment and independence\u201d, the Swedish operator highlighted.<\/p>\n

Jernhusen\u2019s terminal network<\/h2>\n

Jernhusen is a state-owned real estate company that owns five of the main intermodal terminals in Sweden. In addition to the \u00c5rsta facility, the other four terminals are in Malm\u00f6, V\u00e4ster\u00e5s, Helsingborg and N\u00e4ssj\u00f6, the largest inland terminal in the Nordic region. These last four have been in stable operation for over a decade, while the one in \u00c5rsta will now see its fifth operator in 14 years.
