The Austrian national rail freight operator Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has reopened the Czech P\u0159erov-Horn\u00ed Mo\u0161t\u011bnice combined transport terminal. It was subject to large-scale renovations for the past 16 months.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>RCG doubled the terminal\u2019s size, grew its capacity and modernised the infrastructure. The Austrian operator initiated the project to address long-time capacity bottlenecks at the P\u0159erov facility. The terminal previously lacked handling areas and had limited access to individual tracks.<\/p>\n

In total, RCG added some 17,100 square metres to the terminal. It now boasts a total area of around 36,000 square metres. The handling and storage areas were expanded and track access was improved. The P\u0159erov terminal now has a capacity of approximately 3,000 TEU.<\/p>\n

RCG explains that the renovation has contributed to faster and more reliable handling and a higher train frequency. This should help cement the terminal as a distribution centre in the Czech Central Moravia region with good connectivity to rail and road networks.<\/p>\n

Cross-continental freight<\/h2>\n

\u201cWe see P\u0159erov as a key hub for the further development of combined transport in Central Europe\u201d, commented Christoph Grasl, Member of the Board of the \u00d6BB Rail Cargo Group. \u201cOur long-term goal is to build a robust and flexible logistics infrastructure that offers our customers stability, even in times of fluctuating global supply chains.\u201d<\/p>\n

That vision includes future connections to the ports of Koper (Slovenia) and Rijeka (Croatia), as well as links with Asia\u2013Europe freight flows through Budapest. RCG adds that the terminal can now also handle semi-trailers.<\/p>\n
