The Croatian logistics company ENNA Logic has purchased five multi-system Siemens Vectron locomotives. They will be delivered in the spring of 2027, after which the locomotives will boost ENNA\u2019s capacity to operate on key European transport corridors. The Vectrons’ agility is a key element that enables the company’s growth.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>“This investment represents a key step in executing our long-term growth strategy and strengthening our position in the European logistics market. Expanding our fleet is a direct response to our clients’ growing demand for reliable, fast, and environmentally sustainable freight transport”, ENNA CEO Ana Soldo tells RailFreight.com.<\/p>\n

“These new locomotives will allow us to significantly increase our transport capacities and elevate the overall quality and stability of our service”, Soldo adds.<\/p>\n

The ordered Vectron locomotives enable a capacity expansion, but also offer flexibility that will help ENNA compete with its competitors. Their integrated equipment package (the A17 corridor configuration), makes them unique. The system includes all required national safety systems alongside the latest version of the European Train Control System (ETCS), explains CEO Soldo.<\/p>\n

“As a result, these locomotives can operate across 11 European countries \u2014 stretching from Germany and Austria, through Croatia, all the way to Bulgaria and Serbia \u2014 without any technical modifications or delays at national borders. This grants us a massive competitive advantage in cross-border speed and flexibility.”<\/p>\n

Borders are no obstacle<\/h2>\n

The Vectron locomotives support three voltage levels, which is also a prerequisite for efficient cross-border transport that eliminates the need for locomotive changes at borders. “This significantly reduces operational downtime and increases the efficiency of transport processes\u201d, explained Kre\u0161imir Nevisti\u0107, Head of Siemens Mobility Croatia, earlier.<\/p>\n

ENNA also signed a maintenance deal for up to 30 years. The partnership also provides greater availability, operational efficiency, and predictable long-term costs, according to ENNA.<\/p>\n

Following the company’s expansion into Serbia, Slovenia and Hungary, additional locomotives will provide the capacity, flexibility and reliability needed to serve customers more efficiently across key regional and European corridors, Soldo says.<\/p>\n

Agility is key<\/h2>\n

Operational agility sits at the very foundation of ENNA’s success. The company notes a 22% annual income growth, a worthy achievement in the European rail freight industry. “Our results are a direct validation of our largest strategic project, the Rijeka Gateway container terminal, developed in partnership with global leader APM Terminals (Maersk)”, Ana Soldo tells RailFreight.com.<\/p>\n

“The official launch of the terminal and the successful handling of its first commercial vessels have established a highly efficient, brand-new hub that connects Asia and Europe directly through Croatia. Our growth stems from the synergy between this landmark investment and our operational agility.”<\/p>\n

Within this context, the new multi-system locomotive fleet serves as the “operational bridge that unlocks the full value of the Rijeka Gateway terminal.” The locomotives help to ensure that freight delivered to Rijeka is immediately moved deep into Central and Eastern European markets without any delays or engine swaps at national borders.<\/p>\n
