There is a brand new terminal in Valladolid, in northern Spain, that is ready to start operations. However, for the second time in a row, the tender launched by the country\u2019s infrastructure manager Adif was reportedly declared deserted, forcing a change of strategy.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>Now, there will not be any more tenders, but Adif will instead negotiate directly with interested parties, still aiming to have it working in the last quarter of the year, according to Spanish media El Mercantil. The first tender, held in 2025, was unsuccessful because Adif rejected the two offers presented by Alsa Rail and a joint venture between Transfesa and Suardiaz Slisa.<\/p>\n

The causes behind the failure of the second tender<\/a>, published in May for over 800,000 euros, are still unclear. Some, El Mercantil said, suspect that a new regulation might be culpable, at least partially. New guidelines from the National Markets and Competition Commission set thresholds for minimum volumes to be handled, but do not specify what happens if these goals are not met.<\/p>\n

Valladolid Railway Complex<\/h2>\n

The Valladolid Railway Complex, strategically located between Bilbao and Madrid, covers an area of 63,000 square metres, but the tender also included a possible expansion on a further 43,000 square metres. There are nine tracks of more than 750 metres, including two for the deployment of rail highways<\/a>. Together with the development of the Valladolid Eastern Bypass, rail freight traffic is expected to avoid passing through the city and boost the modal shift, especially in the automotive sector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
