The two companies ran a successful test which entailed rail transport between Domodossola and Bari, crossing Italy from north to south, and a ferry connection to Patras, in northern Greece.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"more-52557\"><\/span>This is not the first test run involving UPS and CargoBeamer. In March, another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/business\/2024\/03\/26\/ups-puts-parcels-on-rail-with-cargobeamer\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">successful test<\/a> was announced and became a regular service, connecting the terminal in Domodossola to the one in Kaldenkirchen, in western Germany. This was the first time that UPS ventured into an intermodal project using the rail in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The Domodossola-Kaldenkirchen service includes the rail transportation of two UPS swap bodies with CargoBeamer equipment. On the other hand, the new Italy-Greece service focusses on semi-trailers, as a spokesperson for CargoBeamer told RailFreight.com. \u201cUPS shows interested in expanding our cooperation and we are receiving positive feedback from the tests\u201d, they added.
