{"id":443752,"date":"2026-06-02T05:36:57","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T19:36:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=443752"},"modified":"2026-06-02T05:36:58","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T19:36:58","slug":"disused-burnie-waterfront-rail-line-slated-for-removal-in-next-financial-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=443752","title":{"rendered":"Disused Burnie waterfront rail line slated for removal &#8216;in next financial year&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Burnie\u2019s disused foreshore rail line could be torn up within months, the Burnie City Council has heard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At its meeting last week, councillors were told the rails along the waterfront were slated for removal early in the next financial year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The timing came up when Councillor Ken Dorsey asked whether a removal date had been set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNo, we don\u2019t,\u201d General Manager Shane Crawford said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur indicative timeframes \u2026 we say first quarter [of the] next financial year at this point in time, subject to approvals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\" id=\"attachment_66369\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.pulsetasmania.com.au\/images\/pmg\/4b1f4be2-d99ve623kfk0od1_wqosp_2phn2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-66369\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The rail corridor along Burnie\u2019s waterfront, pictured in 2007, has been disused for years.
