The facility\u2019s skilled workforce will build new trains, maintain existing fleets and carry out repairs,\u202fsuch as accident damage and vehicle overhaul.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span>The depot will serve as a one-stop shop for train manufacturing, maintenance and repairs, ensuring the seamless operation of light and heavy rolling stock.\u202fSt Rollox intends to have a\u202ffully electrified rail line from its buildings to the mainline, between Glasgow and Edinburgh, and will be the only active wheel-shop facility in Scotland.\u202fGibson\u2019s\u202fnew engineering facility\u202fwill allow\u202fthe site to once again\u202fplay a prominent role in transforming\u202fthe railway engineering industry in the UK over the next few decades and beyond.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"eop\"><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span>Gibson\u2019s Engineering is led by father and son duo, Dougie and Fraser Gibson. They and their team are dedicated to delivering superior quality products that not only enhance the global transportation landscape, but they are also committed to reducing environmental impact.\u202fThe directors and management team, with a combined experience of over 300 years in rail transport engineering, has a reputation for innovation, reliability and craftsmanship.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span>Fraser Gibson, Managing Director of Gibson\u2019s Engineering, said<\/span><\/span><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span>: \u201cThis is fantastic news for Scotland, which has a proud heritage and tradition of rail manufacturing, maintenance and repair. Over \u00a310 million has already been invested by David including the purchase price of the facility, refurbishment and ongoing maintenance of the buildings. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span>Businessman &amp; Philanthropist David Moulsdale said<\/span><\/span><span class=\"normaltextrun\"><span>: \u201cI\u202fwas born and raised just three miles from \u2018The Caley\u2019. I\u202fvividly recall the enormous impact this unique engineering powerhouse had on\u202fme, and on\u202fthe Greater Glasgow and broader Scottish community.\u202fI\u2019m\u202fextremely confident that\u202four\u202fambition to see significantly larger-scale employment of engineers, coachbuilders, project managers and apprentices in the North of Glasgow will come to fruition.
