Meir launched on NASA\u2019s SpaceX Crew-12 mission to the International Space Station in February 2026 with fellow NASA astronaut Jack Hathaway, ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut Sophie Adenot, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev.<\/p>\n

Meir was selected by NASA in 2013. Prior to becoming an astronaut, her career as a scientist focused on the physiology of animals in extreme environments.  Meir served as flight engineer on the International Space Station for Expedition 61 and 62 and participated in the first all-female spacewalks.<\/p>\n
