{"id":425795,"date":"2026-05-11T18:30:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T08:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/railuk.com\/?p=193214"},"modified":"2026-05-11T18:30:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T08:30:00","slug":"scotrail-confirms-may-2026-timetable-changes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=425795","title":{"rendered":"ScotRail confirms May 2026 timetable changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/railuk.com\/rail-news\/scotrail-confirms-may-2026-timetable-changes\/\" title=\"ScotRail confirms May 2026 timetable changes\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"485\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/17144854\/scotrail-485x360.jpg\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin-bottom: 5px; clear:both;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/17144854\/scotrail-485x360.jpg 485w, https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/17144854\/scotrail-80x60.jpg 80w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>ScotRail has confirmed details of its timetable changes that will come into effect from Sunday 17 May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The timetable includes service revisions across the network to reflect operational requirements and planned engineering activity, alongside additional and amended services.<\/p>\n<p>Customers will also be able to take advantage of fares being frozen until 2027, ensuring rail travel remains affordable alongside these improvements.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of additional services will operate at weekends, and include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Extra services on the Glasgow Queen Street\u2013Anniesland via Maryhill line on Saturdays.<\/li>\n<li>The introduction of an additional evening Glasgow Central\u2013Kilmarnock return service on Sundays.<\/li>\n<li>A second train per hour on the Levenmouth Rail Link on Sundays.<\/li>\n<li>Enhanced Sunday local services between Aberdeen and Montrose and Aberdeen and Inverurie.<\/li>\n<li>Increased number of electric trains on the East Kilbride line on Sundays.<\/li>\n<li>More North Berwick services on Saturdays.<\/li>\n<li>An additional 08.15 Ayr to Glasgow Central service on Sundays.<\/li>\n<li>An additional 08.05 Edinburgh Waverley to Aberdeen on Sundays.<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening of Edinburgh Waverley to Helensburgh Central services on Friday and Saturday evenings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following services on the Borders line will be temporarily withdrawn to allow electrification work along the route to take place:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>23:19 from Tweedbank to Edinburgh.<\/li>\n<li>23:44 from Edinburgh to Tweedbank.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The 06:47 Kingussie to Inverness service will also be withdrawn due to low customer demand, with fewer than 10 passengers travelling on the service on average each day.<\/p>\n<p>Customers are encouraged to check their journeys on the ScotRail website, mobile app, or through social media channels as train times may have changed.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Ilderton, ScotRail service delivery director, said: \u201cWe are introducing a number of timetable changes from Sunday 17 May, the majority of which are on Saturdays and Sundays to meet the growing demand for leisure travel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese additional services will provide customers with more choice and flexibility, helping more people travel by rail for leisure, events, and days out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are a small number of changes for operational requirements and planned engineering works so the Borders route can be electrified, making rail travel more sustainable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCustomers should check their regular journeys before travelling, as some train times may have changed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Image credit: ScotRail<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/railuk.com\/rail-news\/scotrail-confirms-may-2026-timetable-changes\/\" title=\"ScotRail confirms May 2026 timetable changes\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"485\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/17144854\/scotrail-485x360.jpg\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\"><\/a>ScotRail has confirmed details of its timetable changes that will come into effect from Sunday 17 May 2026.
