{"id":4211,"date":"2024-01-22T09:56:21","date_gmt":"2024-01-21T23:56:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/?p=115102"},"modified":"2024-01-22T09:56:21","modified_gmt":"2024-01-21T23:56:21","slug":"beaconsfield-bridge-edges-closer-to-completion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=4211","title":{"rendered":"Beaconsfield Bridge edges closer to completion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ARTC <a href=\"https:\/\/inlandrail.artc.com.au\/\">Inland Rail<\/a> has taken a major step towards completing the new Beaconsfield Parade bridge in Glenrowan with the installation of the final concrete beam, completing the 145-metre span across the railway line.<\/strong><span id=\"more-115102\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>ARTC Inland Rail is building\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/glenrowan-bridge-down-to-one-lane\/\">a higher bridge in Glenrowan<\/a>, to facilitate the safe passage of double-stacked freight trains for the Inland Rail project, with Inland Rail&#8217;s construction partner McConnell Dowell using a 750-tonne crane to lift the final seven 30-tonne beams into place this week.<\/p>\n<p>In total, 51 concrete beams are incorporated into the bridge \u2013 30 for the vehicle section and 21 beams for the pedestrian section of the bridge. More than 1200m\u00b3 of concrete has been used to construct the bridge.<\/p>\n<p>ARTC Victoria and South Australian General Manager Projects Ed Walker explained that completing the bridge was an exciting milestone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s challenging to build a bridge like this with a working rail line underneath, but the team is doing a terrific job,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you to the Glenrowan residents for their patience and understanding.
