{"id":415190,"date":"2026-04-27T18:37:23","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T08:37:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/railuk.com\/?p=192515"},"modified":"2026-04-27T18:37:23","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T08:37:23","slug":"beeston-station-transformed-thanks-to-major-investment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=415190","title":{"rendered":"Beeston station transformed thanks to major investment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/railuk.com\/railway-stations\/beeston-station-transformed-thanks-to-major-investment-and-partnership-working\/\" title=\"Beeston station transformed thanks to major investment\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"485\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/27093117\/Beeston-Station-Upgrade-Network-Rail-1-485x360.jpeg\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin-bottom: 5px; clear:both;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/27093117\/Beeston-Station-Upgrade-Network-Rail-1-485x360.jpeg 485w, https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/27093117\/Beeston-Station-Upgrade-Network-Rail-1-80x60.jpeg 80w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A celebration event was on Friday 24 April to mark the transformation of Beeston station following more than \u00a37.6 million of investment.<\/p>\n<p>Network Rail has completed a \u00a31.36 million project to completely refurbish the waiting shelters and a historical canopy at the 19th century station.<\/p>\n<p>East Midlands Railway has also carried out a \u00a3250,000 project which included resurfacing and remodelling the forecourt, adding a new cycle shelter and planters, and installing new lighting and extra seating.<\/p>\n<p>It all complements the \u00a36 million investment completed in spring 2025 to add two new lifts, a walkway and steps, under the Government\u2019s Access for All scheme.<\/p>\n<p>There are timetable improvements to celebrate too \u2013 with two Sunday services between Nottingham and London St Pancras stopping at Beeston from May.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-wistia-inc wp-block-embed-wistia-inc\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" title=\"Beeston no subs Video\" src=\"https:\/\/fast.wistia.net\/embed\/iframe\/wohnvxmaob?dnt=1#?secret=ubqBT7wxxZ\" data-secret=\"ubqBT7wxxZ\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" width=\"640\" height=\"362\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Ann Shannon<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ann Shannon, Network Rail scheme project manager, said: \u201cWe\u2019ve carried out significant repairs to the waiting shelters on both platforms, replacing severely corroded timber, repainting structures and repairing brickwork along the station approach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe work was delivered in close partnership with EMR, and also neighbouring residents, who helped by providing access where needed. Thanks to support from the Railway Heritage Trust we were also able to restore additional features, helping the station really stand out. The project came in on time and under budget, and we\u2019re extremely pleased with the results.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeeston has seen significant investment over the past year or so, delivering a real and visible transformation, and our event today has been about celebrating what can be achieved when long\u2011term investment, strong partnerships and community involvement come together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>EMR\u2019s recent \u00a3250,000 upgrade at the station focused on community and biodiversity, with the forecourt resurfaced and remodelled to create more social space for passengers. The building fa\u00e7ade was also repaired and redecorated, while a new designated area for the station\u2019s volunteers was created. A new cycle shelter, additional seating, and improved lighting were also installed.<\/p>\n<p>Will Rogers, managing director for EMR, said: \u201cIt\u2019s fantastic to see the transformation at Beeston, a real demonstration of what can be achieved when investment, partnership and community come together.
