The Spanish government is planning to introduce a permanent subsidy scheme that combines funds for eco-incentives and track closures. A call for applications is expected for Autumn this year.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>The plan was confirmed by the Spanish minister of transport Oscar Puente, while the prediction for the call for applications came from the head of the association of private operators AEFP Juan Diego Pedrero, according to Spanish media El Mercantil. Pedrero specified that the scheme will cover the volumes moved in 2026.<\/p>\n

Since the last eco-incentive package<\/a> covered 2024, it means that there will be no funds for 2025. They were first introduced in 2023 as a clause to unlock EU funds without introducing highway tolls. After being renewed on a yearly basis, the new plan should be made permanent.
