A group of volunteers from TransPennine Express (TPE) and The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) took to Cleethorpes station over the weekend to fundraise for the lifeboat charity.<\/p>\n

TPE announced its partnership with RNLI last year, as well as with two other independent lifeboat charities \u2013 St Abbs Lifeboat and Humber Rescue.<\/p>\n

The partnerships bring together organisations committed to safety, on land and at sea, and will focus on supporting coastal communities, delivering lifesaving safety messages, and raise vital funds for their work.<\/p>\n

The event on Saturday 11 April raised vital funds as customers donated cash and chatted to volunteers.<\/p>\n

RNLI and TPE have also produced a water safety educational booklet designed to help families and young people travel safely to the train operator\u2019s coastal destinations and understand the importance of water and rail safety which were handed out to passengers.<\/p>\n

With the majority of rescues involving visitors travelling from inland areas to the coast, the partnership is a natural extension of the train operator\u2019s role in connecting people to these locations.<\/p>\n

Andrew Watkins, community & development manager at TransPennine Express said: \u201cMany of our services connect inland communities to seaside destinations, so there\u2019s a natural link between our role as a train operator and the incredible work these rescue organisations carry out.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is about more than just fundraising \u2013 it\u2019s about raising awareness of water and rail safety and ensuring our customers have the knowledge to enjoy the coast safely. We\u2019re proud to be working alongside our charity partners to protect lives and support the communities we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cVolunteers will be out regularly at stations \u2013 so look out for them and help us raise money for a good cause.\u201d<\/p>\n
