The funds will be used to purchase new locomotives primarily for the German market, the company said.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"more-70512\"><\/span>\u201cThrough this financing, KfW IPEX-Bank is supporting the shift of freight transport to rail\u201d, Railpool said in a press release. The loan is part of KfW\u2019s Program 269 \u2018Investment Loan for Sustainable Mobility\u2019, launched by the bank in 2022 on behalf of the German ministry of transport.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second time that a large rail freight player receives a loan from this package. A couple of months ago, rail freight wagon lessor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/business\/2026\/02\/13\/vtg-secures-340-million-euro-promotional-loan-for-wagon-purchases\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">VTG got 340 million euros<\/a> for the purchase of new rolling stock.
