{"id":398685,"date":"2026-04-03T07:19:02","date_gmt":"2026-04-02T21:19:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/railuk.com\/?p=191484"},"modified":"2026-04-03T07:19:02","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T21:19:02","slug":"liverpool-lime-streets-assisted-travel-lounge-opens-to-passengers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=398685","title":{"rendered":"Liverpool Lime Street\u2019s Assisted Travel Lounge opens to passengers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/railuk.com\/travel\/liverpool-lime-streets-assisted-travel-lounge-opens-to-passengers\/\" title=\"Liverpool Lime Street\u2019s Assisted Travel Lounge opens to passengers\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"485\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/02221723\/Liverpool-Lime-Street-Assisted-Travel-Lounge-Network-Rail-485x360.jpg\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin-bottom: 5px; clear:both;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/02221723\/Liverpool-Lime-Street-Assisted-Travel-Lounge-Network-Rail-485x360.jpg 485w, https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/02221723\/Liverpool-Lime-Street-Assisted-Travel-Lounge-Network-Rail-80x60.jpg 80w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Passengers who need help to get on and off trains at Liverpool Lime Street station will now have access to a dedicated waiting area, as well as a number of new features to improve their journeys.<\/p>\n<p>This week the new Assisted Travel Lounge fully opened to passengers travelling into and out of Liverpool\u2019s biggest train station.<\/p>\n<p>Network Rail has invested \u00a3400,000 into the lounge, which is located on the station concourse.<\/p>\n<p>The space has been transformed into a quiet and welcoming waiting area for passengers with additional mobility and sensory needs, with a dedicated team on hand to help.<\/p>\n<p>The lounge will include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Accessible seating with integrated space for wheelchairs.<\/li>\n<li>An accredited Changing Places toilet facility.<\/li>\n<li>A sensory nook for people who find stations overwhelming.<\/li>\n<li>A staffed welcome desk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The lounge will be open between 7am-8pm each day.<\/p>\n<p>The project was funded in part by Muscular Dystrophy UK. The charity provided a contribution of \u00a365,000 towards the delivery of the Changing Places facility, funded through a grant awarded as part of the Government\u2019s Transport Strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Rachel Rahbarzare, station manager at Liverpool Lime Street, said: \u201cLime Street station is a gateway for many travellers who want to visit the incredible city of Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSometimes travelling on trains can be a daunting experience for people, so the addition of our new Assisted Travel Lounge is very welcome.
