The extension provides a further opportunity for residents, businesses and stakeholders to view the proposals and provide feedback.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the extended consultation period, an additional public drop-in event has been arranged:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Saturday 18 April 2026, 10:00 \u2013 13:00 Marsden Mechanics, Peel Street, Marsden, Huddersfield, HD7 6BW<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Members of the project team will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the proposals in more detail.<\/p>\n<p>The proposals form part of the multi-billion-pound Transpennine Route Upgrade to modernise the railway between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and York, delivering faster, more frequent and greener trains on a better, cleaner and more reliable railway.<\/p>\n<p>This includes improvements at Marsden and Slaithwaite stations, reconstruction of a number of bridges and highways, installation of new track, signalling and cabling, and overhead line equipment (OLE) to power electric trains through the area.<\/p>\n<p>A number of temporary construction compounds are being proposed to support the safe and efficient delivery of the works.<\/p>\n<p>A Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) is required to deliver elements of the proposed scheme.
