ScotRail is thanking customers for returning to rail travel with the resumption of the normal timetable at Glasgow Central High Level.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday 25 March, the first day of the restored timetable, ScotRail recorded around 120,000 passenger journeys at Glasgow Central as people used the train to return to work, education, and for leisure travel.<\/p>\n

The figures highlight how quickly customers have returned to travelling with ScotRail, despite two of the station\u2019s main entrances on Gordon Street and Union Street remaining closed due to the exclusion zone and the ongoing clear up of the fire-damaged site by Glasgow City Council.<\/p>\n

A phased reopening at Glasgow Central has seen a steady increase in passenger numbers.<\/p>\n

During the period when only low-level services were operating (11\u201317 March), weekday journeys averaged around 55,000. This rose to 94,000 following the partial reopening of nine high-level platforms between 18\u201324 March, before returning to near-normal levels with the full resumption of services with all station platforms available.<\/p>\n

ScotRail Chief Operating Officer David Ross said: \u201cWe\u2019re really pleased to see customers coming back to the railway in such strong numbers following the return of our normal timetable at Glasgow Central.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe speed of recovery shows the essential role rail plays in keeping people moving and supporting the economy of Glasgow and beyond. We\u2019re grateful to our customers for their patience and support while services were disrupted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith a full timetable now in operation, we\u2019re focused on continuing to deliver a reliable service and helping customers travel with confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n
