The new\u00a0West Tarneit Station<\/a>\u00a0is taking shape following a 14-day construction blitz earlier this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crews worked around the clock to build the new station platforms and roof canopies, excavate a pedestrian underpass beneath the rail line, and install new signalling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also installed 35 precast concrete panels to form the underpass, with each panel manufactured locally in regional Victoria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new station near the corner of Davis and Leakes roads will open to passengers later this year following completion of the station precinct, bus interchange and 400 new car parks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The landscaped precinct will also feature seating, separated walking and cycling pathways, bike hoops and secure bike storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The underpass will be tiled in a range of vibrant green colours, which will be incorporated into other design features across the station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total, more than 17,000 native trees, plants, shrubs and grasses, including wattles, correas, bottlebrushes and flowering gum trees will be planted in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access to the station will be via a new road from Leakes Road on the southern side of the station, with a signalised intersection being built at Heartlands Boulevard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
