SPORVEIEN, Oslo\u2019s public transport operator, has agreed a deal with CAF for 20 new M4000 metro trains. The base contract, which includes spare parts, is worth \u20ac150m and includes an option to order up to 90 additional trains.<\/p>\n
The new three-car trains for Oslo\u2019s 85km, six-line metro network feature three double doors on the side of each car. They have been built to withstand the Norwegian capital\u2019s severe weather conditions, including snow and low winter temperatures.<\/p>\n
All axles will be powered and each train will be fitted with a battery pack to allow it to move under its own power to the next station in the event of a power failure and for movements within depots. The trains will be equipped to allow conversion to driverless operation at Grade of Automation 4 (GoA4) if required.<\/p>\n
CAF is currently delivering 87 SL18 Urbos LRVs to Sporveien to operate on Oslo\u2019s light rail network, under a \u20ac200m contract awarded in 2018.<\/p>\n
