{"id":392694,"date":"2026-03-24T19:17:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-24T09:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/railuk.com\/?p=190979"},"modified":"2026-03-24T19:17:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-24T09:17:08","slug":"scot-rail-to-resume-normal-timetables-as-glasgow-central-high-level-reopens-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=392694","title":{"rendered":"Scot rail to resume normal timetables as Glasgow Central High Level reopens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/railuk.com\/travel\/scot-rail-to-resume-normal-timetables-as-glasgow-central-high-level-reopens\/\" title=\"Scot rail to resume normal timetables as Glasgow Central High Level reopens\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"485\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/16113000\/ScotRail-scaled-1-485x360.png\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin-bottom: 5px; clear:both;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/16113000\/ScotRail-scaled-1-485x360.png 485w, https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/16113000\/ScotRail-scaled-1-80x60.png 80w, https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/16113000\/ScotRail-scaled-1-265x198.png 265w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>ScotRail will resume its normal timetable from Glasgow Central High Level tomorrow (Wednesday 25 March) after work was completed to reinstate the remaining platforms at the station.<\/p>\n<p>After more than a fortnight of disruption caused by a fire in a building on Union Street, platforms one to 15 can now be used from the start of service on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>A limited timetable returned to several routes last week, but with all platforms available, ScotRail services will also now return to:<\/p>\n<p>Edinburgh \u2013 Glasgow Central via Shotts\/Carstairs.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Glasgow Central \u2013 Cathcart Circle.<\/li>\n<li>Glasgow Central \u2013 Paisley Canal.<\/li>\n<li>Glasgow Central \u2013 Newton.<\/li>\n<li>Glasgow Central \u2013 Barrhead.<\/li>\n<li>Glasgow Central \u2013 Neilston.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Alterations which were in place for the following services during the disruption will also end:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Glasgow \u2013 Ardrossan Harbour.<\/li>\n<li>Glasgow \u2013 Largs.<\/li>\n<li>Glasgow \u2013 Dumfries\/Carlisle.<\/li>\n<li>Glasgow \u2013 Stranraer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Customers are advised to check their journey before travelling as there may be some minor alterations to services due to some trains being out of position following the station closure.<\/p>\n<p>The reopening of the remaining platforms has been confirmed following comprehensive safety checks by Glasgow City Council and Network Rail and as the safe demolition of the building next to the station continues.<\/p>\n<p>Public safety is still the main priority so not all entrances and exits to the high level are open. An exclusion zone around the area worst affected by the fire is still in place so the entrances to the station on Gordon Street and Union Street will remain closed until further notice.<\/p>\n<p>Customers will be able to enter and exit the station via Upper Hope Street (adjacent to Waterloo Street), which reopened to customers on Sunday; the access point known as the carriage driveway, which is used during special events; and the low level areas on both Hope Street and Argyle Street.<\/p>\n<p>David Ross, ScotRail chief operating officer, said: \u201cThis is excellent news for our customers, and I am very pleased we will be able to resume our normal timetable when Glasgow Central High Level reopens for business on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe understand how frustrating the closure has been for customers whose journeys have been disrupted, and we\u2019re very sorry for the impact it has had.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe safety of our customers and staff is our priority, and the decision to reopen the high level has only been taken following comprehensive safety checks by Glasgow City Council and Network Rail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know some people will be travelling by rail for the first time since the fire, so we will have staff on hand at Glasgow Central and across the network to support customers and answer any questions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Image credit: ScotRail<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/railuk.com\/travel\/scot-rail-to-resume-normal-timetables-as-glasgow-central-high-level-reopens\/\" title=\"Scot rail to resume normal timetables as Glasgow Central High Level reopens\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"485\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/16113000\/ScotRail-scaled-1-485x360.png\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\"><\/a>ScotRail will resume its normal timetable from Glasgow Central High Level tomorrow (Wednesday 25 March) after work was completed to reinstate the remaining platforms at the station.
