Townsville\u2019s North Rail Yards project continues to gather steam, with the appointment of three new directors and the conclusion of expressions of interest for development proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The newly appointed directors bring a wealth of expertise to the project. Among them are property experts Peter Wheeler, Managing Director of Colliers Townsville, and a Townsville Enterprise Limited board member; Kirsty Smith, director of Kelen Property and non-executive director of Brisbane Housing Company; and Paul Spiro, former Chairman of Gadens law firm and current Chair of the Brisbane Economic Development Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chairman of North Rail Yard Developments, John Rosel said each director brought significant knowledge, and experience in project delivery and all facets of property including analytics, development, inner city redevelopment, commercial real estate and property law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Rosel also announced two preferred proponents have been selected to present their business cases and development proposals to the board for consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNorth Rail Yards represents a key CBD development, and the board is eager to see the proponents\u2019 vision for the site,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform this heritage site into a vibrant residential and mixed-use waterfront destination.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The North Rail Yards is a Council-formed company dedicated to rejuvenating the heritage site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mayor Troy Thompson highlighted the site\u2019s significance as a gateway to Townsville and its potential to address the need for affordable residential housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
