TransPennine Express (TPE) is celebrating a family trio of colleagues this Mother\u2019s Day, as a mum and her two daughters share their pride in building careers on the railway together.<\/p>\n

Sarah Beauvoisin, a conductor based in Newcastle, works alongside her daughters Frances Beauvoisin, a conductor based in York, and Lauren East, a driver based in York.<\/p>\n

Lauren was the first to join TPE six years ago, starting as a dispatcher before progressing to become a trainee driver. She now works as a fully-fledged, qualified driver.<\/p>\n

Lauren said: \u201cI love being out and about and not stuck behind a desk. The scenery is amazing and sometimes you\u2019ll even spot wildlife on the routes. It\u2019s such a unique job.\u201d<\/p>\n

Inspired by Lauren\u2019s experience, Sarah decided to change careers and applied for a conductor role in Newcastle. She was named Conductor of the Year at TPE\u2019s internal awards last year.<\/p>\n

Sarah said: \u201cI always thought the railway was a male-dominated industry, but when Lauren joined and loved it, I realised there were real opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt makes me incredibly proud that all three of us now work on the railway. We can share stories from our day and understand each other experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n

Frances later followed in their footsteps after hearing how much they enjoyed working for TPE, joining as a conductor in July 2025.<\/p>\n

Frances said: \u201cEvery day is different. I love meeting lots of people and travelling to different places.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s also lovely hearing colleagues say nice things about my mum and sister – it makes me really proud.\u201d<\/p>\n

The family\u2019s railway connection runs deep, as Lauren and Frances\u2019 father has been a driver on the Tyne and Wear Metro for 20 years, whilst their grandfather was also a train driver.<\/p>\n

Nicola Buckley, people director at TPE said: \u201cSarah, Frances and Lauren\u2019s story is a great example of how rewarding a career on the railway can be.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the past year, the number of women working at TPE has increased by more than 11 per cent, with women now making up 25% of our workforce.<\/p>\n

 \u201cWe\u2019re proud to see women thriving across the business and we hope their story encourages others to consider a career in rail.\u201d<\/p>\n
