The operator signed an agreement with Adria Port, the Hungarian state-owned company which will own the terminal in Italy.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"more-69769\"><\/span>The focus of the partnership between Adria Port and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/business\/2024\/12\/24\/hungarys-waberers-to-acquire-70-stake-in-gysev-cargo\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Gysev Cargo<\/a> will be on a \u201cstable rail connection between Trieste and Hungary, integration of infrastructures and intermodal capacities and long-term sustainable, transparent cooperation\u201d. The future Hungarian terminal in Trieste, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/intermodal\/2025\/02\/24\/hungarys-terminal-in-trieste-to-be-ready-in-2028\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">expected to be ready in 2028<\/a>, will provide a somewhat direct outlet on the sea to the landlocked country.<\/p>\n<h2>Adria Port<\/h2>\n<p>Hungary picked Trieste over Koper to build a terminal in a port on the Adriatic. The facility will cover an area of 34 hectares, and rail freight will be at the heart of the project being the main transport mode for transport to and from the port.
