TransPennine Express (TPE) has revealed its First Class customers have devoured more than 14,000 sausage rolls and 11,000 cheeseburgers on its trains between Liverpool and Newcastle in the last year. <\/p>\n

Passengers have also consumed more than 10,560 litres of beer in the form of more than 32,000 330ml cans of Northern Monk TransPennine Pale \u2013 brewed exclusively for the train operator. <\/p>\n

TPE\u2019s Coast to Coast menu brings locally sourced, mouthwatering dishes to customers using ingredients from suppliers along the route and is a firm favourite 12 months on from its launch.<\/p>\n

Current dishes include a Rocket Scouse, Liverpool’s iconic dish consisting of a slow-cooked beef and root veg pie, a Tex-Mex burger complete with melted cheese, salsa, jalape\u00f1os, pickles and crunchy tortilla chips, as well as a heavenly hog roast sausage roll, handmade by The Original Baker in Malton.<\/p>\n

During the busy festive period more than 1,200 Original Baker Festive Rolls were eaten alongside around 5,100 mince pies. <\/p>\n

Andrew McClements, customer experience & transformation director said: \u201cWe\u2019re so proud that our Coast-to-Coast menu has proved so popular with passengers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWith 95.5 per cent of customers saying they would travel First Class again with TPE, we know we\u2019ve been able to create an experience that stands out. <\/p>\n

\u201cOur menu changes seasonally, so look out for our new delicious dishes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The success of the menu has also meant the creation of 25 new customer host jobs \u2013 who serve First Class passengers. <\/p>\n

Andrew added: \u201cAs part of our expansion of our catering services we have been able to hire dozens of people, contributing to the economy of the region. <\/p>\n

The Coast to Coast First Class menu was introduced following the success of West Coast Kitchen, which operates on TPE services between the North West and Scotland.<\/p>\n
