A long-serving hospital staffer was allegedly fired for taking a \u201csneaky peek\u201d at the medical records of Daniel Andrews. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former Victorian premier was admitted to Monash Clayton Hospital in southeast Melbourne late last year after suffering a reported neurological episode<\/a> that left him debilitated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sources told the Herald Sun<\/a><\/em> earlier this month Mr Andrews, 53, was \u201cin a very bad way\u201d and had had issues with his movement and speech. It\u2019s understood his condition was improving under an intensive, ongoing rehab program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, The Daily Mail<\/a><\/em> reported that a Monash Clayton employee of 14 years was dismissed for accessing Mr Andrews\u2019 records. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 59-year-old woman, referred to by the pseudonym Michelle to protect her identity, said she overheard on the radio on December 18 that a \u201chigh-profile person\u201d had been admitted to the hospital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI thought, that can\u2019t be right \u2013 why Clayton? So I looked it up,\u201d Michelle, who worked at the hospital\u2019s Freedom of Information department, said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI pressed the restricted access button, had a quick skim \u2026 and that was it.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n

Michelle said that she \u201cdidn\u2019t read anything, didn\u2019t tell a soul\u201d. Accessing information \u201cfor lawyers and patients is something that \u201ceveryone\u201d who works at the hospital does, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
