Normal service will resume at Aberdeen Station this weekend following the completion of essential track upgrades. <\/p>\n

The station was closed for the last three weekends while Network Rail delivered \u00a33.8m worth of improvements, aimed at keeping services running reliably for customers.   <\/p>\n

The work was carried out across platforms 3, 4, 6 and 7, where almost a mile and a half of rail was renewed, along with around 1,500 sleepers and 4,500 tonnes of ballast. <\/p>\n

The project is part of Network Rail\u2019s commitment to delivering a reliable railway and continuing to improve infrastructure across Scotland. <\/p>\n

Ross Moran, route director at Network Rail Scotland, said: <\/strong>\u201cThese upgrades are important to keep the railway safe and fit for the future. Our teams worked carefully within the short access windows available to complete a significant amount of work over the three planned weekends. This approach helped us keep most weekday services running as normal while still delivering the improvements required. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate that any change to journeys can cause disruption, and I want to thank customers for their patience while the work was carried out. Their support helped us make the upgrades needed to keep trains running smoothly.\u201d <\/p>\n

Mark Ilderton, ScotRail Service Delivery Director, said: <\/strong>\u201cAberdeen station is a key gateway for the northeast of Scotland, supporting thousands of journeys every day and connecting communities across the region and beyond, so it\u2019s great to see the \u00a33.8million programme of track improvements completed. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis investment builds on the \u00a38million redevelopment of the station in 2022 and represents continued investment in the region\u2019s railway infrastructure. The upgrades will help improve reliability and support smoother journeys for our customers. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d like to thank customers for their patience while this essential work was carried out. With services back to normal this weekend, we look forward to welcoming customers on board as we continue to deliver a safe and reliable railway.\u201d <\/p>\n
