The vessel, the Kamsarmax-sized Navios Citrine, docked from New Orleans, USA, carrying more than 67,000 metric tonnes of mixed agribulk products, marking a milestone for both ADM and Peel Ports. The carrier, Navios, operates a fleet of over 170 vessels.

The cargo, discharged using a Liebherr mobile harbour crane with a grab, comprised maize, high-protein soya, soya hull pellets and corn gluten. Together, these commodities are central to the UK’s agricultural and animal feed sectors. The shipment’s scale and complexity underlined Liverpool’s flexibility in handling multiple product types while maintaining quality, segregation and efficient turnaround times.

Complex bulk cargo handled efficiently

Handling multiple commodity types in a single consignment is a complex process. The port was eager to demonstarte it’s ability to manage high-volume, varied bulk cargoes with precision. Managing these cargoes requires careful planning and coordination to ensure the integrity of each product throughout discharge and onward transport. The bulk carrier Navios Citrine, measuring 229m in length, represented the largest ADM consignment ever handled at Liverpool, reflecting growing confidence in the port’s infrastructure and operational capability.

Navios: over 170 ships (Buonasera-WikiCommons)

Jonathan Lane, Managing Director of ADM Agriculture Ltd and ADM UK Country Manager, said: “This shipment represents an important milestone for ADM and underscores the strength of our global supply chains.
