The train will be dubbed the \u201cAmerican Pioneer 220\u201d and will be the nation\u2019s first passenger train that will reach speeds of more than 200 miles per hour.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The announcement came just weeks after <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/railfan.com\/construction-begins-on-brightline-los-angeles-to-las-vegas-route\/\"><span>Brightline broke ground on the $12 billion project<\/span><\/a><span>. Siemens also provided the trains that Brightline uses on its service in Florida.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cJust as we redefined train travel with our trainsets for Brightline Florida, we are excited to pioneer this new frontier of manufacturing and development for Brightline West,\u201d said Brightline CEO Michael Reininger. \u201cThe momentum we are building will culminate in new jobs and a new supply chain that will establish the foundation for a high-speed rail industry from coast to coast.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The American Pioneer 220, or AP220s, will be based on Seimens\u2019 Velaro product currently used in Europe.
