It has been a pleasure once again collating this months edition of\u00a0Rail Express<\/em>. You will see a strong focus on the heavy haul sector following on from the Heavy Haul Rail conference that the team attended\u00a0back in March. The event was a chance to share ideas and consider the direction of the industry moving forward.<\/p>\n

The cover story this month explores Pacific Nationals\u2019 push to improve level crossing safety with CEO Paul Scurrah attending a roundtable in March to push for collaboration and clarity around safety at level crossings. He called for a singular industry body to support a clear message to the general public around level crossing safety and greater responsibility from transport organisations.<\/p>\n

It was also great to chat to the team from Downer as they make moves to re-enter the rail freight space to support the industry\u2019s transition towards net zero by 2050. The company has brought the ZTR range to Australia for the here and now solution many companies are looking for but will be closely working with industry to improve its\u00a0offerings.<\/p>\n

Further on Rail Express<\/em>\u00a0got the opportunity to speak to the team from DT Infrastructure to learn about its recent acquisition by Gamuda and how it sees infrastructure support working moving forward.<\/p>\n

Finally, it was enjoyable sitting down with Ram Rajagopal from Siemens to learn more about the international company\u2019s commitment to supporting the local Australian market. The organisation has its Port Melbourne facility exporting all over the world, but its commitment to local content is very impressive.<\/p>\n
