Under the arrangement, eight weekly rail services will be offered\u2014five operated by SCT<\/a> and three by\u00a0Aurizon<\/a>. This is an increase from the current three weekly services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The change comes as Aurizon adapts operations around the continued impact of the Cross River Rail project in South East Queensland. The company has been using the Brisbane Multimodal Terminal (BMT) at the Port of Brisbane for its Melbourne\u2013Brisbane corridor. However, construction works have affected access to the terminal, leading to repeated network closures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To avoid further disruption, Aurizon will move operations to SCT\u2019s terminal at Bromelton, located south of Brisbane and outside the construction zone. SCT will also handle train movements to and from the Bromelton site under a \u201chook and pull\u201d arrangement. The use of the Bromelton terminal is planned to continue for the duration of the Cross River Rail works, which are expected to be completed in 2029.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aurizon is also evaluating the addition of one more weekly service on the east\u2013west corridor connecting Sydney and Melbourne with Perth. This would raise the number of weekly runs on that route from seven to eight, with the change planned for mid-2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SCT Logistics is a private operator providing scheduled containerised freight services, warehousing and distribution across Australia.
