We are sorry for the delay in your journey. [08:04 22\/01]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">arrived at Bendigo on time despite the late running VLocity ahead of us the in the next section!<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2026-01-30-11.39.39-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-358557\" style=\"width:215px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2026-01-30-11.39.39-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2026-01-30-11.39.39-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2026-01-30-11.39.39.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Bendigo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><br><em>Another Electrical fluctuation spike 10:05 took place after they armed the door on departure<\/em> <em>made me abruptly stop what I doing beforehand!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>PA advised there was issues with the locomotive  and the driver was going reset something in the Locomotive! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Our locomotive N453 got hiccups!!!&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>As when some intermittent faults occurs on route is deemed as <em><strong>safety critical that affects <\/strong><\/em><strong><em>operating the train service in safe manner <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> It&#8217;s justified reason to cancel train service at short notice when the faults cannot be resolved in set timeframe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This often prevent blocking the mainline to minimise the delay to the other services on the same line making their way to and from Bendigo and hiccups  with their working timetable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>10:26<\/strong> the train was rolling again toward Eaglehawk  onward to Swan Hill PA advised the Driver had reset the locomotive and took 15 min to reboot it!!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>like frozen computer app the reset in my opinion it worked rather well it prevented a cancelled train service!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being warm day I don&#8217;t think the train load of people who are pressed for time  will take too kindly to waiting in the heat\/in the tiny waiting room for V\/Line to arrange transport ie: coaches at short notice! <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>VN14 <\/strong>looked tired and needed of repairs and 3x  N series car had their communication door isolated which indicted the door engine, pulleys that operated the doors were faulty as it like was being let go!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> As earlier <strong>10:24<\/strong> I seem to hear it seeming the moving parts within it is not sync &amp; spiking irregularly at regular intervals &#8230;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When I was at buffet waiting while train was in motion to served amongst people BRN&nbsp; AG [back up generator ]sounded abnormally loud inside the carriage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">After boarding power interruption at Swan Hill 13:32<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Most the ride was uneventful and  the train rolled back and near Sunbury those rough areas the train slowed for those rough areas and Watergarden flashed by now in Metro Rail system inductive of the overhead and EMU&#8217;s rolling past&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>18:04&nbsp; Bendigo line<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>24\/1\/25- 07:39 VLocity <\/strong>Swan Hill service users due to full heat timetable halting the use of older classic fleet<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"> I observed the people of the service boarding via 3 coaches to continue their journey beyond at Bendigo.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>In my case I decided to take next service 10:26 Southern Cross<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While waiting for the train I heard toot in distance and was aware a loco on the move and VL at the same time rolls in and shortly board advice was announced train was read so  boarded it sat by the window  I saw <strong>N460<\/strong> go shuffling past!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>I get a feeling  there something emerging within and not just hot weather and bushfire issues!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Huh? Full heat timetable N set not operating to  see N460 operating why does it seem it was doing yard work if not what going on?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Train depart on time  good crowd on board as Free Travel Weekend all seemed well until we reached Castlemaine!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I saw out my window &amp; I could clearly see the signal on two reds which meant train was on the section arriving shortly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The VLocity toward Bendigo arrives at Castlemaine and the service I was on were pulling out at low speed only come to abrupt stop! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em><strong>Peered out the window and saw the signal was against the train!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong> On dear, Signal issues!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>It held up the train 11:02 shortly after PA from crew advised <br>Signal fault <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>11:06- <\/strong>It was rectified was the service under a special train order to pass that signal that didn&#8217;t operate is it should?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>11:35 the website gave it&#8217;s travelling advice<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">The <strong>10:26 Bendigo &#8211; Southern Cross <\/strong>service is delayed by 30 minutes due to an earlier equipment fault. We are sorry for the delay in your journey. I don&#8217;t think that was meant to heard whist the train was in motion! <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">We pulled in <strong>16:03 <\/strong>and saw my train was tabled to go to <strong>Seymour<\/strong> and good crowd was present waiting for it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>some were so eager to get on the crew had tell them and advise  to wait with the customer staff at Southern Cross on arrival!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>On pulling in I saw two Sprinter Car rolling beside me to <strong>7A<\/strong> at the same time!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Took note of VL no. <br><strong>2326<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Was near by off 6-7 deciding what train to go for next and heard PA they had platform change from <strong>7B -7A<\/strong>!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I saw the all disgruntled travellers bags and all a good line them heading their way down from <strong>7B <\/strong>to the train<strong> 7A!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">On hearing this it  just confirm my concerns might been correct as they failed the train I got off from as it looks like it got bounced too hard on the return and it seem sustained some sort of damage that rendered not fit for service!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">  Now 2x Sprinters Rail Cars has taken its place!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wasting no time I boarded the service and rode it a rare treat riding a older railcar&#8230;.haven&#8217;t rode this for years as  I happened by chance be onboard when it blew a air bag and we crawled all the way to Seymour! But was realise this  rectified and now it lovely little rail car  that zips along at 100-125 on route&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">v<strong>ery nice for older rail technology and the seat are bit narrow but very comfortable compared with VLocity put the cherry on top for the day!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Australia Day 26\/1\/25<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>I had treat on the older Sprinter Rail Cars both directions to start the day<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>On the return while pulling in at 13:42 <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I saw  in the siding where there old train wash next to mainline on pulling I saw the VLocity sitting with Alstom technical personnel looking with torch at the bogie areas on one the carraiges<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> As we rolled past the no. VL2326&nbsp; was amongst the 3 car set in the siding <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>it confirmed my concerns with track conditions in that area damaged something the day before!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Went on Waurn Ponds <strong>14:10<\/strong> service, rolled there uneventful  returned back<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Things took funny turn on return at <strong>15B <\/strong>on getting off I saw it was returning to Waurn Ponds at 17:03<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> On leaving I past  Alstom technical personnel heading toward the train I just got off as I was heading toward the station exit near 15 A &amp; B<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>From V\/Line website:17:20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>The <strong>17:10 <\/strong>Waurn Ponds will not run today.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">On checking reason: Train Fault!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Conclusion:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After seeing and experiencing this it seem not only the newer train VLocity have having issue with their on board design for Regional inter city setting for them but the most concerning  part test of time had proven too  they are too NOT fit purpose for how the top management are operating them as blanket &#8220;<strong>One Size Fits all train design<\/strong>&#8221; which it looks as in heat of summer in Vic and  the <strong>Vic Regional Track local conditions<\/strong> is damaging them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These modern European trains from <strong>Alstom or Bombardier <\/strong>rail transport manufactures I understand were built for their local track and weather conditions : <strong>Semi Polar<\/strong> &#8211;<strong>Temperate<\/strong> adapted rail infrastructure overseas often has these feature for high speed rail: concert track bed, sleeper and steel clips to and rubber elastomer pad to <strong>absorb<\/strong>, <strong>noise<\/strong> and vibration and reduce the stress on train.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">I have noticed AUS must be one the few countries that still uses <strong>&#8220;Dog Spikes&#8221;<\/strong> and timber sleepers as I noticed on some lines ie: Geelong there is <strong>mixture <\/strong>of Concert and Wood sleepers in the tracks!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Does by any chance does anyone know these feature seen on route on the rail corridors it&#8217;s self changes the impactive forces exerted on the older and newer trains alike?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>I don&#8217;t know they going sort this out&#8230;.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the older train were made locally and the older skill for it is gone along with infrastructure to enable this to continue. As it was made for <strong>Vic local &amp; regional track conditions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>it seem it look they might need converse with what remain of older railway engineer in the profession who has being exposed and versed to local rail conditions and help modify the rolling stock advise theTransport Provider from overseas to adapt the newer trains to our weather condition and track conditions down under, this means no more off the shelf rolling stock!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>As I understand the trains provider trains that are assembled in VIC  are outsourced via tender and skills for rail are overseas ie: Lima Agreement that both parties signed ended local manufacturing in AUS not only trains&#8230;.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-text-align-center is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>It seems some them on the top level who making decisions on our behalf may not don&#8217;t know either&#8230;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As just because it look good on the train manufacture transport provider&#8217;s website doesn&#8217;t mean it will be realistic or fit for purpose  for train crew on the front line who operate it and the travellers who use it in the long run!!!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I was advised via some mentors who seen service in rail industry that  SOME consultants who don&#8217;t ride it to get feel of the train design they approve on the system in uncontrolled settings regular all the way and back again on regular basis during the week as part of their role.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To some of the train crew who is subjected to these riding conditions &amp; events whist working on them and those travellers on onboard it like them borrowing  our watches and telling us the time!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Why was the heat table amendeded 1\/12\/2025 Partial Heat Timetable SOP [Standard Operational Procdure] for longer train routes the same as &#8220;FULL&#8221;
