A TV series placing the spotlight on some of the nation\u2019s favourite railway stations has called at Brighton to dive into its Victorian history and find out how staff preserve its legacy.<\/p>\n

The coastal terminus features in the third episode of More4 series Britain\u2019s Favourite Railway Stations with presenter Si King, joined by transport historian Siddy Holloway and architect Damion Burrows.<\/p>\n

Viewers will take an exclusive look at some of the hidden spaces tucked underneath the station\u2019s busy eight platforms, including the Victorian-era cab road, and find out what it takes to bring millions of passengers to one of the UK\u2019s most popular seaside resorts.<\/p>\n

Paul Wyborn, Brighton\u2019s area station manager, said: \u201cIt was a real joy to welcome Damion to Brighton this summer. The station is a jewel in the railway\u2019s crown with its stunning cast iron and glass train shed offering a magnificent welcome to the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope viewers across the country enjoy taking a look behind the scenes at Brighton on the television and, if they haven\u2019t already, consider a trip by train to the coast this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also in the episode, Si King travels to Sheringham on the Norfolk Coast to explore two very different stations: the modern Bittern Line terminus and the heritage North Norfolk Railway, while Siddy Holloway heads to Barry Island in Wales to uncover how the railway fuelled seaside day trips and transformed social life in the country.<\/p>\n

Episode three of Britain\u2019s Favourite Railway Stations with Si King airs Thursday 22 January at 9pm on More4.<\/p>\n
