The majority still wants it on the 26th &#8211; and the word &#8216;majority&#8217; is the key here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A percentage of the 3.2% of the population that is Aboriginal, accompanied by their Woke Warrior wannabes in between Climate Change, Ukraine and Palestinian protests, don&#8217;t want it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A poll this week shows only 10% of the Australian Population want the date changed from the 26th or 90% want Australia Day on the 26th of January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>A special Roy Morgan SMS Poll on Australia Day, January 26, shows 72% of Australians now say the date should stay as \u2018Australia Day\u2019 \u2013 up 3.5% from two years ago. Only 28% (down 3.5%) say January 26 should be called \u2018Invasion Day\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The definition of a (small &#8216;l&#8217;) liberal democracy is that it governs to the will of the majority whilst protesting the rights and interests of minorities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This gives them the freedom to demonstrate. It does not give them the freedom to change anything other than their vote to achieve their ends. You don&#8217;t see protests like these in remote areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Support for saying January 26 should be known as \u2018Australia Day\u2019 by age:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>18-34:<\/strong>&nbsp;72% (up 16% since 2024) \u2018Australia Day\u2019 cf. 28% (down 16%) \u2018Invasion Day\u2019;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>35-49:<\/strong>&nbsp;69% (up 5.5%) \u2018Australia Day\u2019 cf. 31% (down 5.5%) \u2018Invasion Day\u2019;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>50-64:<\/strong>&nbsp;72% (down 6.5%) \u2018Australia Day\u2019 cf. 28% (up 6.5%) \u2018Invasion Day\u2019;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>65+:<\/strong>&nbsp;74.5% (down 8%) \u2018Australia Day\u2019 cf. 25.5% (up 8%) \u2018Invasion Day\u2019.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The reason is simple: it&#8217;s not important to those in far-fetched towns and communities.
