{"id":35296,"date":"2024-05-06T09:47:34","date_gmt":"2024-05-05T23:47:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infrastructuremagazine.com.au\/?p=52098"},"modified":"2024-05-06T09:47:34","modified_gmt":"2024-05-05T23:47:34","slug":"fire-safety-system-testing-at-new-arden-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=35296","title":{"rendered":"Fire safety system testing at new Arden Station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arden Station has partnered with CSIRO to test its emergency fire safety systems, to ensure they are ready for the station to open in 2025 as part of the Sunbury to Cranbourne\/Pakenham line.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The team used a fog machine to generate \u2018hot smoke\u2019 with controlled flames, to safely simulate how smoke behaves in the station.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One test took place within the concourse area, and the other on the platform. Both tests measured smoke movement, speed, extraction time and impact on emergency access points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These tests aim to ensure Arden Station\u2019s ventilation systems are working as expected to help keep people safe in the rare event of a fire.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Similar tests will be carried out across all Metro Tunnel stations in coming months, ensuring the safety and preparedness of the stations when the Metro Tunnel opens in 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Featured image: Smoke testing underway inside Arden Station.
