Airports, rail lines and roads remain closed after ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji made landfall between Ayr and Bowen, bringing heavy rain and sustained winds to the Far North Queensland region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest update from the Bureau of Meteorology stated that the tropical low has sustained winds of 55km\/h with wind gusts to 95km\/h.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A warning is in place for heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding between Ayr and St Lawrence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residents between Ayr and Mackay, including Bowen, Proserpine and the Whitsunday Islands, should refer to the severe weather warning.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the last 12 hours, the highest rainfall total was recorded in the ranges west of Mackay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mattie O\u2019Neil Bridge at Cattle Creek got 370mm, with widespread falls ranging between 250mm and 350mm in that area.<\/p>\n\n\n

On Sunday morning, a mother and two children were rescued after their car was trapped in floodwaters at Bogie, west of Bowen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Disaster and emergency management deputy commissioner Chris Stream said the woman walked to a nearby homestead to seek assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
