Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has suggested that a Royal Commission into the Bondi Beach terror attack would not be in the national interest, arguing his departmental review would be more effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Albanese has overlooked the highest form of independent public inquiry and instead launched a review of law enforcement agencies led by his own department<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bondi Beach massacre, which occurred during a Hanukkah celebration on December 14, left 15 people dead and dozens injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Families of the victims wrote to Mr Albanese<\/a> on Monday and urged him to establish a Commonwealth Royal Commission into the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has snubbed those requests and defended his departmental review, saying his job was to \u201cact in the national interest\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
