Mexican<\/a> authorities have found three bodies in an area where two Australian brothers and their American travel companion were last seen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brothers Callum and Jake Robinson and American Jack Carter Rhoad have been missin<\/a>g<\/a> since April 27, after they failed to return from a camping trip in the Baja California region, near Ensenada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9News understands the three bodies were found on a cliff by the ocean, about 2km away from what is believed to be the men’s campsite.<\/p>\n\n\n

9News’ Alison Piotrowski travelled to the site today, and described the road nearby the campsite as “very treacherous”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ufeffThree abandoned tents were also discovered along with the remains of a campfire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There was a very heavy police presence and an army presence. There were at least 100 soldiers and officers there,” Piotrowski said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“None of them were authorised to confirm whether or not it is the bodies of the three men.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mexican authorities told 9News that once they have retrieved the bodies and transported them back into town, they will provide media with an update.<\/p>\n\n\n

Mexican police response<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

All three men were due to check into Airbnb accommodation in Rosarito, but failed to arrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A local police commander previously told 9News he feared the three men had ventured too far out of Ensanada to a remote area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The brothers were driving a white Chevrolet Colorado ute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A car matching the description of the Chevrolet Colorado ute has also been found burnt out on a nearby farm, in the Santo Tomas area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baja California Attorney General, Mar\u00eda Elena Andrade Ram\u00edrez confirmed yesterday that three Mexican nationals had been arrested in connection to the case.https:\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/GJ5nl\/1\/<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9News understands a woman was found to be in possession of one of the brothers’ mobile phones, but it has not been confirmed which man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s understood she turned the phone on, which caused it to ping a local cell tower and allowed authorities to track her down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family and friends have been appealing for assistance using social media, which sparked the initial investigation by Mexican authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Callum had been living in the US after following his dream to become a professional Lacrosse player and to represent Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jake left Australia just two weeks ago to visit his brother. He had been working as a doctor and was due to start a new job in Victoria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their parents Martin and Debra Robinson said yesterday they were “heading to the US\/Mexico to be as close as possible to the area where they were last seen”.<\/p>\n\n\n

“We know the Callum and Jake are much loved,” the Robinsons said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We thank everyone, especially the police, DFAT, Australian embassy staff and other authorities, for continuing the search to find the answers we desperately seek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are heading to the US\/Mexico to be as close as possible to the area where they were last seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Callum and Jake are beautiful human beings. We love them so much and this breaks our heart.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The brothers had been to the Coachella music festival before heading to Mexico to surf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
