Although American Airlines was originally founded in the 1920s and began operating in the 1930s, the airline has only been flying out of DFW since 1974. The airline moved its headquarters from New York to Fort Worth, Texas, in 1979, just five years after the airport opened. DFW would become the airline&#39;s first hub airport and, to this day, is the <a href=\"https:\/\/simpleflying.com\/top-us-hubs-focus-cities\/\">largest hub in the American Airlines network<\/a>.
