{"id":333046,"date":"2025-12-19T19:46:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T09:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/railuk.com\/?p=187005"},"modified":"2025-12-19T19:46:00","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T09:46:00","slug":"major-progress-on-projects-this-christmas-and-new-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=333046","title":{"rendered":"Major progress on projects this Christmas and new year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/railuk.com\/rail-news\/major-progress-on-projects-this-christmas-and-new-year\/\" title=\"Major progress on projects this Christmas and new year\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"485\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/18103657\/newsignallersnwr-485x360.jpg\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin-bottom: 5px; clear:both;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/18103657\/newsignallersnwr-485x360.jpg 485w, https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/18103657\/newsignallersnwr-80x60.jpg 80w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Christmas and early 2026 will see major strides made on projects in Network Rail\u2019s North &amp; East route \u2013 part of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/gloo.to\/FW7t\">\u00a3160 million of railway investment nationally<\/a>&nbsp;this festive season.<\/p>\n<p>Much of the Christmas work will be done when trains are not running but passengers are advised to check all parts of their journey before travelling.<\/p>\n<p>The main work involved in strengthening two platforms at Chesterfield station will take place, along with renewal of the switches and crossings that guide trains safely from one line to another, and in the new year, two level crossings will be upgraded.<\/p>\n<p>All this work is in addition to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkrailmediacentre.co.uk\/news\/transpennine-route-upgrade-to-deliver-christmas-and-new-year-improvements-between-leeds-and-york\">Transpennine Route Upgrade project delivering Christmas and new year improvements between Leeds and York<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The main work to strengthen two platforms at&nbsp;<strong>Chesterfield station<\/strong>&nbsp;will take place on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
