A ribbon cutting ceremony on April 24 marked the first day of operation of a new service between Villa Opicina, Italy and Rijeka, Croatia, via Slovenia.<\/p>\n
The cross-border service, which will run until September 30, is expected to cost more than \u20ac2m to operate, with \u20ac1.6m provided by the European Regional Development Fund\u2019s (ERDF) Interreg Central Europe Sustance project in partnership with Slovenian Railways (S\u017d<\/a>) and Croatian Railways (H\u017d<\/a>).<\/p>\n The train, formed of a new S\u017d four-car Stadler Flirt class 510 EMU, with capacity for 235 passengers, departs Villa Opicina at 07.50, arriving at Rijeka at 09.54. The return service leaves at 18.25, arriving back at Villa Opicina at 20.40. Intermediate stops are made at: Se\u017eana, Diva\u010da, Pivka, Ilirska Bistrica, \u0160apjane, and Opatija Matulji.<\/p>\n Tickets can be purchased at stations or onboard, with an adult single costing \u20ac8.
