{"id":32626,"date":"2024-05-01T05:37:03","date_gmt":"2024-04-30T19:37:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=32626"},"modified":"2024-05-01T05:37:03","modified_gmt":"2024-04-30T19:37:03","slug":"new-trains-named-after-wrexham-football-hollywood-stars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=32626","title":{"rendered":"New trains named after Wrexham Football Hollywood stars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tfw.wales\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Transport for Wales<\/a> has named two new trains after the home cities of Wrexham Football Club owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Philadelphia Robin\u2019 and \u2018Vancouver Red Dragon\u2019 were unveiled last week by Welsh Government\u2019s First Minister Vaughan Gethin and Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales Ken Skates, ahead of the home game against Stockport.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Transport for Wales wanted to acknowledge the positive work and impact the owners have had in the area including how they\u2019ve helped the local community and businesses.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>First Minister Vaughan Gething said: \u201cIt\u2019s been great to visit Wrexham General today and see two of the latest additions to Transport for Wales\u2019s stock, part of our \u00a3800m investment to improve trains\u2019 reliability and comfort.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a real buzz about Wrexham these days. Rob and Ryan have put an incredible amount into the community and it\u2019s fantastic that their contribution is being recognised with the new trains, which I\u2019m sure every Wrexham fan will want to travel on whenever they can.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cabinet Secretary for North Wales and Transport, Ken Skates, said:\u00a0\u201cRyan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have opened a window to the world on Wrexham, its fantastic football club and the wider region. I\u2019m delighted that we\u2019re recognising this by naming two of our brand new, made-in-Wales\u202ftrains in their honour.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s especially fitting that it\u2019s happening as the curtain closes on another incredibly successful season for Wrexham AFC.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>James Price, Transport for Wales CEO added: \u201cWe\u2019re in the process of introducing brand-new trains across our Wales and Borders network and throughout the last year we\u2019ve worked with local schools and communities to help name them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur services are well used by supporters of Wrexham Football Club and it\u2019s evident to see how much the owners of the club have positively contributed to the area.\u00a0 We\u2019re proud to name our new trains after the home cities of Ryan and Rob and we look forward to welcoming fans onto them.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Transport for Wales has named two new trains after the home cities of Wrexham Football Club owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
