{"id":326244,"date":"2025-12-01T13:01:21","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T03:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=326244"},"modified":"2025-12-01T13:27:24","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T03:27:24","slug":"metro-tunnel-open-day-interrupted-by-halted-trains-due-to-alarm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=326244","title":{"rendered":"Metro Tunnel open day interrupted by halted trains due to alarm"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During what could only be called a wonderful day for Melbourne with the opening of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?cat=1168\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Metro Tunnel\">Metro Tunnel<\/a>, sadly trains in the Metro Tunnel were interrupted for over 30 minutes due to &#8220;Operational Reasons&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At approximately 11:30am trains in the metro tunnel were halted due to reasons announced as Operational Issues when 70,000 people who had attended the tunnel opening were attempting to board trains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Waiting at Town Hall and the system has gone down. 11.31am Sunbury train has been delayed. No confirmation or update on the arrival. The report suggests Metro Staff at Town Hall Station advised passengers of a fire alarm condition.    Metro Trains in the post thread above denied this was the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I did not attend but saw the post on X and then later ascertained through a series of telephone calls there was talk of a fire alarm condition tripped at the Eastern Portal of the Metro Tunnel near South Yarra.  This caused trains to be halted for some time and on resumption of services trains were advised to operate at slower speeds in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today it has been suggested an intruder was also spotted near the tunnel entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The service interruptions were also reported by others on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Who was the intruder and where did they come from?
