{"id":32230,"date":"2024-04-30T04:40:37","date_gmt":"2024-04-29T18:40:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=32230"},"modified":"2024-04-30T04:40:37","modified_gmt":"2024-04-29T18:40:37","slug":"northern-commissions-student-artwork-celebrating-south-yorkshire-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=32230","title":{"rendered":"Northern commissions student artwork celebrating South Yorkshire town"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new art exhibition celebrating Rotherham and its history has gone on display at the town\u2019s railway station. <\/p>\n<p>The work was commissioned by train operator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northernrailway.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northern<\/a>, and created by 16 students from Rotherham college. <\/p>\n<p>It includes striking prints and paintings of the town\u2019s landmarks, which will be on display for the next 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>Rotherham Central Station is operated by Northern and used by more than 500,000 customers a year.<\/p>\n<p>Kerry Peters, Regional Director for Northern, said: \u201cWe\u2019d like to thank the students for working so hard to create this stunning display.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope customers enjoy this injection of colour and creativity and take pride in the fact their station has been brightened by a group of local students who want to celebrate Rotherham\u2019s unique history.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was amazed at how each individual put their spin on their view of Rotherham.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The students who produced the artwork are Abby Heald, Charlotte Broadway, Megan France, Nathan Fashakin, Chuanpeng Zhao, Elise Barnard, Jayden Hannis, Charlie Robinson, Christy Scholefield, Harry Love, Alisha Kendrick, Nicole Zigova, Natalie Jones, Drew Richardson, Favour Ayere and Emily Curson.<\/p>\n<p>The new display is part of a wider project to bring more character and personality to South Yorkshire\u2019s stations.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new art exhibition celebrating Rotherham and its history has gone on display at the town\u2019s railway station.
