Drainage improvement work at Lowdham station will affect passenger services between Nottingham and Lincoln on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November.<\/p>\n

Network Rail will be installing 400 metres of drainage pipe and 16 water management chambers at the station, replacing equipment which is now life expired.<\/p>\n

The project \u2013 an investment of about \u00a3300,000 \u2013 will help to prevent flooding on the track, which damages the railway track and related components.<\/p>\n

The work will affect services on the Saturday evening and all day on the Sunday. Rail replacement buses will be in operation between Newark Castle and Nottingham.*<\/p>\n

Passengers are advised to plan journeys in advance through National Rail or train operators\u2019 websites.<\/p>\n

Dan Matthews, Network Rail operations director, said: \u201cRenewing the drainage helps keep people and freight safe by extending the life of the track. It also means smoother, more reliable journeys and reduces the need for maintenance in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re sorry to anyone whose journey is affected as we carry out this drainage work, which will bring clear benefits for everyone who uses or travels through Lowdham station.\u201d<\/p>\n

Philippa Cresswell, customer experience director for East Midlands Railway, commented: \u201cWe\u2019re encouraging customers planning to travel between Nottingham and Newark Castle on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November to check their journey in advance and allow extra time, as rail replacement buses will be in operation from Saturday evening while Network Rail carries out essential drainage work at Lowdham.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019d like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding while this important work takes place to help deliver more reliable journeys in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Motorists and pedestrians are advised that Lowdham level crossing will be closed from 9.30pm on Saturday 22 November to 5.15am on Monday 24 November to allow for the drainage work. It will also be closed from 10.15pm on Saturday 29 November to 9.30am on Sunday 30 November as follow-up work is carried out to check the new system is working correctly.<\/p>\n
