One of the aims of the new TEN-T Regulation is to harmonise communication between EU Member States and European institutions. To do this, the TENtec system is being developed. When fully functional, the system is expected to speed up the exchange of information and accelerate the compiling of reports and maps of the corridors. However, there still seems to be no timeline for when the system should be deployed.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>TENtec is the interactive geographical and technical information system for the TEN-T network. Once it is fully operational, it will be used by Member States to inform the European Commission (EC) about their progress on their TEN-T projects. Reports from Member States through the TENtec platform will have to be submitted every year. While the system is still being developed, this exchange of information will occur every two years. TENtec will contain information about specific projects, including their funding and progress.<\/p>\n

Based on two pillars<\/h2>\n

The TENtec system will be based on two pillars, as the EC highlighted. First, it will be used to store and manage technical, geographical and financial information to help decision-makers make the right moves concerning fund deployment. The second pillar, managed by the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) focusses on grant management activities. In other words, it should become easier to receive data and unlock funds for TEN-T projects.<\/p>\n

Core TENtec modules<\/h2>\n

The core TENtec modules are Open Method of Coordination (OMC) and iReport, which are accessible through the TENtec Private Portal, which has been available since 2012. The OMC will be useful in keeping technical and financial information about the whole TEN-T network up to date. The iReport will help to generate the annual Progress Report on the implementation of the Priority Projects.<\/p>\n
